Quincy roche cut7/25/2023 ![]() ![]() I hope he turns out just like you think, but I don't think he will. It’s another rebuilding season for the New York Giants. Looking for him to be some dynamo is probably not going to pan out, but I apologize for being the wet blanket, I've watched enough football and played enough that I'm confident in what I see and what I say. He got drafted, he has a shot and he got cut. Roche probably doesn't, be happy, it's an awesome feeling, but I don't think we are getting some great hidden gem. I've watched enough practice and games for going on 30 plus years that I understand who has a shot and who probably doesn't. Does that make sense? I'm not trashing him or anyone with hope, that's fine, be optimistic and project. The Steelers didn't and if we hope to ascend to a team as consistently good as PIT, their castoffs won't be our gems. I'm not saying nobody has a chance but the guys who do seriously flash and teams find a way. My point is, if a guy is worth keeping, good teams find a way. Seubert was similar, undrafted but flashed enough for us to find a way. He was explosive in the preseason and we found a way to stash him for a year until he was ready. Only 1st, 2nd and third round players are allowed to have an impact in the NFL. ![]() Oh my bad Joey I forgot, undrafted, bottom round and cut players never make a contribution in the NFL, that never happens. Headen, Robbie Jones, Byron Hunt and Pepper Johnson(pre Carson) are possibly playing elsewhere. The countless players who were not wanted that became good/solid players somewhere else are somewhat staggering through the years, imv. I’d bet you he sees the field for us and has an impact on passing downs. Nobody is saying he’s Lawrence Taylor but to be so negative and speak the way you did is shameful. So much for knowing anything and jumping to a conclusion. Have you seen him play? Have you seen the the depth chart of the steelers at edge? Sometimes it’s a numbers game They tried to sneak him onto their PS but he was claimed. ![]() That’s a great take from a person who watches football with blinders on. He's not going to do anything significant for any team in the NFL, ever. We are not good enough and neither is he. Roche was put on waivers and the Giants claimed him before the Steelers had the opportunity to put him on their PS. If no one makes a claim you are then able to put them on your practice squad. To put someone on your practice squad, they must clear waivers. I am glad the other guys cleared that up for you. If players didn't get poached then the Steelers could then sign them to their practice squad. Other teams like the Giants then got to poach the cut players before Pittsburgh could re-sign them. Everyone on the taxi squad got cut first before Pittsburgh re-signed them. given the context of the generally accpeted quote "You can never have enough pass rushers". So pitts liked 53 plus i6 players better. Roche was cut and the Giants claimed him. IN fact, a player can be claimed from a practice squad, but that's not, based on my understanding, waht happened. A larger practice squad (o, for that matter, a larger roster) enables a team to hold on to more players. Huh? What does the PS have to do with retaining him? Not saying he can't make it, but he has an uphill climb. in a year when the practice squad has been enlarged. If he had an abundance of it The Steelers would have found a way to hang on him.esp.
